In addition to the Developer's Collection described below, Omen Technology writes software licenses for its more advanced products including ZMODEM-90^TM on an individual basis.

The ZMODEM Developer's Collection

Omen provides the cost effective "ZMODEM Developer's Collection" with the latest royalty free C source code and XMODEM (CRC and checksum), YMODEM, and ZMODEM (including 32 bit CRC) protocol description. These files are kept up to date with reported bug fixes. They compile to Unix rz/sz programs that send and receive files with XMODEM, YMODEM, and ZMODEM. Many versions of 16 and 32 bit Unix are supported.

Developers needing more advanced ZMODEM features may license Rz/Sz 3.xx, Rz/Sz 4.xx, and Professional-YAM source code.

We have not taken coding short-cuts that compromise portability. The rz and sz programs use the C language "Standard I/O" for file operations. The C source code in rz and sz was written to accommodate a variety of platforms. It has compiled and run on big-endian and little-endian machines with 16, 32, 36, and 64 bit word lengths. These files are the basis of the ZMODEM functionality in most commercial products including Telix, Procomm, Qmodem, etc..

Communications requirements are met by a small set of primitives (readline(), sendline(), etc.). Porting the programs to new environments requires the developer to provide native versions of these primitives. Interfacing the high level ZMODEM functions to the user's operating system and communications primitives is the user's responsibility.

The Developers' Collection is sold on an as-is basis, non-returnable. It is the customer's responsibility to interface the high level routines to his desired communications environment.

Technical support for the Developer's Collection is unbundled. Support may be purchased on a paid consulting basis ($200/hr).

The ZMODEM source code in the Developer's Collection does not include the Copyrighted ZMODEM-90^TM extensions (compression, Mobyturbo^TM, variable length headers, etc.) which require sublicensing. Please note that rz/sz beginning with version 3.0 is Copyrighted, as noted in the rz.c, sz.c, and zmr.c source files. Note that zmr.c is included in both rz and sz and so is its copyright notice.

The ZMODEM Developer's Collection is $199.95 plus $5.00 S&H. Checks not drawn on U.S. banks must include the bank collection fee ($50 minimum.)
